NVIDIA RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti: To 4K FPS, and Beyond!!
Nvidia’s next-generation graphic cards RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti are finally here. These latest ultimate graphics cards are what gamers want!
These graphic cards are 75% faster than the Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 1080 Ti. Also with dramatically more powerful performance, Nvidia’s RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti are finally designed to deliver the ultimate goal of 4K gaming at 60 fps.
Nvidia also pushes all boundaries of typical gaming with its new technology of ray tracing and AI-driven Tensor Cores. These are the ultimate graphics cards for gamers.

Price & Availability:
These powerful graphic cards come at a high cost. (Update: Prices are now cheaper in the market.) All new RTX 2070 (starting at $499), RTX 2080 (starting at $699), and Founders Edition version 2080 Ti come with a $1,199 (£1,099, AU$1,899) price tag. Although the price is twice as compared to old graphic cards, this new graphic card gives some impressive benchmarks with its specs.
These new graphic cards include real-time ray tracing and AI-powered anti-aliasing. Ray tracing is the beginning of next-generation games that generate real-time light reflections and cinematic effects in gaming.
Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti comes with 11GB of GDDR6 VRAM, 4,352 CUDA cores, and a boost clock of 1,635MHz. Thanks to Nvidia’s first-ever self-implemented 90MHz factory overclock.
Unfortunately, outside of ray tracing demos, none of Nvidia’s new technology will be available for regular games until Microsoft delivers its new Windows 10 October 2018 update. Microsoft announced support for ray tracing in DirectX 12.
Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super-Sampling (DLSS) leverages the company’s supercomputer farms to scan games before they are released and work out the most efficient way to render graphics.
NVIDIA mentions a total of 25 games that are currently in development:
Ark: Survival Evolved |
Atomic Heart |
Dauntless |
Final Fantasy XV |
Fractured Lands |
Hitman 2 |
Islands of Nyne: Battle Royale |

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds |
Remnant: From the Ashes |
Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass |
Shadow of the Tomb Raider |
The Forge Arena |
We Happy Few |
Darksiders 3 |
Deliver Us The Moon: Fortuna |
Fear the Wolves |
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice |

Hardware, Specifications, and Features:
There are some more powerful features in these graphic cards which makes them a powerhouse for 4K gaming. The most important thing is how Nvidia redesigned these RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti cards, How they’re cooled?
Nvidia made a full-length vapor chamber with dual fans that help run the cards quieter and cooler. Nvidia has ditched the metal shield and blower combination that has served it well in the past in favor of a new dual-fan setup for its Founders Edition cards that’s closer to what most third-party card makers already utilize. The humming noise of the card is so subtle which is impressive. This setup keeps the system cool.
Both cards have some outstanding features and specs. The RTX 2080 Ti sports the new Turing TU102 GPU with 4,352 CUDA cores, which is what NVIDIA calls its parallel processing architecture.
It includes some new capabilities that are never seen before in a GeForce card, including 68 dedicated ray-tracing cores, and for handling AI- 544 Tensor Cores. The RTX 2080, meanwhile, has 2,944 CUDA cores, 46 RT cores, and 368 Tensor cores.
NVIDIA is taking a hybridized approach to real-time ray tracing, where it’ll work alongside traditional rasterization. The RTX GPUs can use the technology to produce things like shadows and glossy reflections.
Nvidia recommends your system has at least a 650W power supply for cards to run. If you’re purchasing the Founders Edition cards, they’ll draw up to 225 watts and 260 watts, respectively.
Other than fan design, Nvidia provides three Display Port 1.4a outputs that can handle up to the 8K resolution on a single cable with DSC 1.2. There’s also an HDMI 2.0b connector and a VirtualLink USB-C connector for the next generation of VR headsets.
RTX 2080 Ti Performance:
For gamers, all of those numbers mean one thing: the 4K gaming experience they’ve been dreaming of. After testing with a few games, we can say that the RTX 2080 Ti is currently the most powerful graphics card in the year 2018.
The RTX 2080 is not suitable for the intense 4K gaming experience. It had a difficult time reaching 60 fps at 4K resolution while playing Destiny 2 (avg. 50 fps), Far Cry 5 (avg. 56 fps), Shadow of the Tomb Raider (avg. 28 fps), and even good old PUBG (avg. 54 fps). So, if you want a full 4K gaming experience the RTX 2080 Ti is better for you.
While playing Final Fantasy XV in 4K with high graphics settings, the 2080 Ti comfortably sat between 65 and 75 FPS, while the 2080 came in at 49 to 54 FPS.
The RTX 2080 Ti is more suitable for 4K gaming. After testing it with some games, it proves it can give 100fps easily for 4K games. Shadow of the Tomb Raider and other games with Nvidia RTX turned on look stunning with ray tracing turned on.
Battlefield V and Metro: Exodus with Nvidia RTX turned on gives 100fps at 4K and Ultra settings. The amazing thing is, to reach this level of performance, this Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti card draws less power than the Titan XP and 1080 Ti it outpaces. This GPU does draw twice as much minimum power and gets hot quickly, so be sure your PC is ready to exhaust all that heat before installing it.
Summary:
If you are a PC gamer who wants to experience 4K Gaming or is interested in NVIDIA’s ray tracing feature, RTX 2080 Ti is currently the best graphic card for you in the year 2018.
It is the new top dog in the world of graphics cards. Both cards are huge leaps over the GTX 1080 in terms of raw performance. While currently there are only a few games optimized for their ray tracing technology, the future is coming with lots of surprises!
