LG G7 ThinQ comes with some appealing features, a modern design, and some high-end specifications. But it is not a perfect phone compared to new rivals in the market.

LG G7 ThinQ Design:
From the front side, the phone has a Gorilla Glass 5, metal rim. It comes with a notch and an edge-to-edge screen. The backside has a glass panel and like some other glass panel devices, it also picks up smudges and fingerprints easily.
On the backside, there are Dual cameras vertically placed, a fingerprint sensor, and the LG G7 ThinQ brand name. The fingerprint scanner is located below the camera.
This fingerprint scanner is easy to access but slower than its competitors. Sometimes it leaves a blank screen instantly when you press it. This smartphone is easy to use single-handedly.
There is a dedicated hardware key to start Google Assistant. When you press the lower-volume rocker and hold it for a second, it interacts with you via Google Assistant. It’s a nice feature especially when your phone screen is off or you don’t want to say “Hello Google”!!
If you double-tap the key, it will jump right into Google Lens to identify objects through the camera. This AI key works well and it is fast. But if you don’t want to use it you can disable it in settings.
On the bottom side of this smartphone, there is a mono speaker, headphone jack, and USB Type-C charging port. The glass panel allows wireless charging for G7 ThinQ.
Overall, the G7 ThinQ doesn’t do enough to differentiate its design from the competition. The colors available in the market are not so bright. Raspberry Rose color is selected by many customers as it looks better than others.
BoomBox Speakers:
LG G7 ThinQ supports DTS.X 3D sound, a surround sound technology similar to Dolby Atmos. It has a mono but powerful “BoomBox Speaker”. This is one of the plus points of this smartphone.
Boombox-like sound is produced by this single mono speaker that fires from the bottom. LG took out a module that usually covered the phones’ speakers. They made adjustments to the interior design of the phone. As a result, the phone becomes a resonance chamber throughout. Consequently, the sound quality is amazing and the audio seems to be coming from the entire phone!
LG G7 ThinQ beats the Samsung Galaxy S9, iPhone X, and Huawei P20 Pro in the sound department. It is louder and richer.
LG G7 ThinQ Performance:
It has a Snapdragon 845 Processor. It’s a powerhouse and can handle anything. The phone comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage or 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. This can handle any game and is great for heavy users. There is no bloatware preloaded on the phone.
It comes with an Android operating system 8.0 Oreo. It is not pure Android but comes with a good design and customization. You can play games like PUBG, Transformers, and Asphalt without lag. But this phone can not handle multiple background apps simultaneously.
Display:
The phone comes with a 6.1-inch IPS LCD screen which has a 3120 x 1440 pixel resolution. It is bright and impressive. The Color combination is rich. The best part of the screen is you can use it in sunlight. It has a super bright display. The brightness level of the phone is great and you can enjoy viewing in sunlight also!!
There’s is a notch that provides notification access, clock, connectivity status, etc. The Notch comes with some customization settings like you can hide it with black bars. Screen power consumption is less which gives good battery life.
LG G7 ThinQ Camera & AI:
LG G7 ThinQ comes with a 16MP Dual Camera setup. The first camera is a standard camera with an f/1.6 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization. The second camera has an f/1.9 aperture with a wide-angle lens. The camera works brilliantly in daylight. The color combination is good. But low-light photography is not up to the mark. It doesn’t perform well in low light compared to its competitors.
While 107 degrees wide-angle takes good captures. After zoom-in, you can find colors, and details are not accurate. But it is still good for regular captures. The standard camera provides more details in photos and good color saturation. It can also add blur effects in pics, that look cool. It also takes good selfies with an 8MP front camera. The blur effects are also good in selfies.
There is an AI camera mode. It automatically identifies the scene and changes settings according to it. But still, a standard camera gives more good photos than AI does. The camera is sometimes sluggish. Overall the phone has a good camera but not the best compared to other top smartphones.
Battery Life:
LG G7 ThinQ comes with a 3000mAh battery. On lighter usage like browsing, social media battery can last a day. You can use this phone easily for a whole day with a single charge. Quick Charge 3.0 is good and charges the battery quickly. But the wireless charger is not so fast.
Summary:
The LG G7 ThinQ is an overall good phone. Performance and sound quality are best. The screen is bright and perfect for the outdoors. But still, if you want a great photography smartphone then this is not for you. OnePlus 6 is also cheaper and better than this. LG G7 ThinQ puts solid effort into making it a perfect device. Loyal LG fans will love it.
