Apple iPhone X Review
Apple iPhone X is in the list of best smartphones in the world. Apple itself is calling it ‘the future of the smartphone’. iPhone X is the most expensive flagship smartphone in the market.
Price and Release Date:
It’s released on 3 November 2017, with a price tag of $999 / £999 / AU$1,579 for the basic, 64GB model. For larger 256GB model, price is $1,149 / £1,149 / AU$1,829. The price is harder to swallow.
iPhone X has the best screen than other Apple smartphones. It is the first thing you’ll notice when you pick up the phone. It has 5.8-inch stunning OLED display and great color reproduction than old iPhone 8 and 8 plus. Also, it is sharper and superb quality. The display is crisp, clean and doesn’t suffer from terrible color shifts when you move it around. You can look at the display from all angle.
The longer display is thinner also. The 18:9 ratio format is something we’ve seen on a number of other phones this year, and in the Android world the apps are largely encoded to fill the display just fine. While some iOS apps still need updates to increase user experience on longer screens.
There is a notch at the top of iPhone X. It can be irritant while watching movies. Because that notch cut-out some display and it is noticeable while watching movies in landscape mode.
HDR playback is the new feature Apple showcases on iPhone X display. With HDR playback feature, iPhone X can show movies encoded in the HDR10 and Dolby Vision formats, and combined with the OLED display the images offer so much more depth and realistic color reproduction. You can notice richness, overall depth, and colors on the display.
Apple iPhone X uses Face ID feature to unlock the phone. Apple’s facial recognition tech is ahead of anything else on the market right now. Face ID works flawlessly. You can use Face ID feature to unlock your phone in dark-room, in low light or even you are moving. You just have to raise your phone and look at the screen, and it is unlocked!! Apple has nailed it.
Face ID even works if you are wearing glasses, as long as the infrared scanner that’s actually checking out your face can penetrate the lenses. This Face ID is enabled by the TrueDepth Camera which is located in the notch. This facial mapping camera is powerful and accurate.
Animoji is fun!! You can create Animoji (talking emoji) by using your face and TrueDepth Camera. You can be a talking dog, cat, robot, unicorn or piece of poo, among other avatars. After creating, You can send this animated emoji to your friends. This is a feature can delight children.
Apple iPhone X has the A11 Bionic chip running in tandem with 3GB of RAM. It is a powerful configuration on Apple’s phones yet. It gives a better gaming experience. All games look bright and colorful on OLED display and iPhone X can be the top choice for gaming performance. The only downside is gaming can quickly drain a battery. And that is nothing new from Apple.
There is also Taptic Engine on the phone which is nothing but a vibrating motor. It gives real clicking feel in the hand while playing games. You will get a real sense of a machine-gun firing, taking hits yourself, or flipping through a list because of Taptic Engine.
iPhone X has a little bezel, glass back, and premium design. There is no home button like previous iPhone models. It has weighty steel rim on the outside blending in impressively with the curved glass all around. The color of iPhone X is not painted on the body. It is attached to a metal with a vapor deposition process. Therefore there are only silver and black colors and not the red handset. For this, the iPhone had made red covers.
In some cases, we found some users reported scuffing on the metal rim. So, we suggest you to use cases to look smartphone premium for a long time. The iPhone X is solidly built. It is a strong phone even if it has a glass back. It is easy to use by one-handed and body is grippy.
There are elegantly embedded buttons on the side of the phone. On the back side, there is a dual camera setup with flash in the left corner. Speakers in the iPhone X are at the downward side but give good sound experience. There is no headphone jack. So, you have to use Bluetooth headphones or ‘AirPods’.
iPhone X has rear 12MP dual camera with an f/2.4 aperture and Front-facing 7MP TrueDepth Camera. This selfie camera has depth-sensing technology which gives great portrait selfies with blurred background. You can also change the lighting of the scene, or cut yourself out of the picture altogether and place yourself on a black background.
The rear camera gives rich and stunning shots. It gives natural-looking photos. Because of improved contrast ratios and better colors, those photos look beautiful on OLED display. Overall snapping speed and quality of iPhone X camera are great.

You can record 4K videos with 60fps on iPhone X. Optical Image Stabilization gives stable videos. All 4K videos can take huge space so you may have to choose 256 variant or iCloud service for storage.
iPhone X has 2,716mAh battery. With heavy usage, it lasts 18 hours. It has wireless charging and takes 2 hours to charge fully from a dead battery. You can also buy a USB-C Lightning cable and block to get fast charging capabilities – reported to be 50% battery from 30 minutes of power – but that costs $75 / £75 / AU$100 to buy the cable and block.
Should You Buy iPhone X?
Apple has got things almost entirely right with the iPhone X, taking all it’s learned from its past handsets and fusing them together to make a device that’s like nothing else the brand has ever produced.
iPhone X has a premium smooth design, high-resolution screen, great camera, 256GB storage, wireless charging. It is also a waterproof phone. It is not perfect for its price and features. But, If you are an iOS lover and have a big budget then you can go for this.
