OnePlus 6 Design & Display:
OnePlus 6 has a classy design and a huge display. It comes with a 6.28-inch display, Full Optic AMOLED panel with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Resolution is 2280 x 1080 Full HD with 402 pixels-per-inch density. To keep costs low, they didn’t choose a QHD resolution. But still, the screen appears bright and vibrant. It also provides a good amount of details.
There is a notch smaller than the notch of the iPhone X. Whether you’re for or against the notch it serves a useful purpose on the OnePlus 6, housing the front-facing camera, earpiece, LED notification light, and ambient light sensor. Those who don’t like the notch can turn off it in settings. Then it shows a black bar there.
When you unbox the OnePlus 6, you’ll notice it comes with a screen protector on the screen. There is another surprise for customers, as OnePlus provides a transparent silicon cover for the handset for those who think it needs more protection & grip.
OnePlus 6 comes with Gorilla 5 glass at the front and back. This glassy design gives the phone a rich look. The company claims it is water-resistant. But still, the IP rating doesn’t fully guarantee it if it is fully submerged in water. This means you can use the phone in day-to-day life incidences like accidentally dropping your phone in water and quickly removing it or being caught in rain showers. They specifically state that you should not take it underwater for photos/videos.
The power or lock key and OnePlus’s special alert slider are on the right side of the phone. It is easily accessible. The alert slider easily allows you to switch between loud, silent, or vibrate modes. On the left side, there is a dual nano-SIM tray. Both slots allow high-speed 4G connections.
On the rear side, there is a dual-camera setup, flash, and oval-shaped fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint scanner is fast and unlocks the phone in 0.2 seconds. But here is another biometric technology that you’ll love is – Face Unlock. This reduces the use of a traditional fingerprint scanner. Face unlock is impressively fast and accurate. It unlocks the phone in less than 0.4 seconds. This is a really useful feature.
OnePlus 6 gets more love for keeping a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is also a single down-firing speaker. As it is single, you won’t get the stereo benefit of two speakers. The phone is available in 4 colors- Mirror Black, Midnight Black, Silk White & Red!! The phone looks beautiful in all these colors.
OnePlus 6 Camera:
OnePlus 6 comes with a dual 16MP camera. It features OIS (optical image stabilization) and EIS (electronic image stabilization) on the rear 16MP snapper, further improving low-light shots by reducing camera shake and the consequent blurring.
The camera app on the OnePlus 6 is simple to use. We can quickly access portrait and video modes from the main screen, with a sideways swipe switching you between modes.
The front camera is also 16MP which gives boosts to photos, especially in portrait modes. It works out with the help of software. This software decides what to blur. The front-facing camera takes beautiful selfies.
By swiping up, you’ll get more photography-related options including pro mode, panorama, zoom, and time-lapse. Sometimes zooming in gives less clarity, but still, you get decent photos.
Dual cameras capture good pics in low lights also. It has improved performance over the OnePlus 5T. By playing with the brightness you can get crisp shots in low light. It’s an all-around capable camera that does a good job in a variety of scenarios, delivering everything from nicely blurred backgrounds in Portrait mode to detailed close-up macros and sweeping landscape vistas.
OnePlus 6 can capture 4K videos at 60fps. You can capture slow-mo (Slow motion) videos which is a cool feature. The uniqueness of the OnePlus 6 slow-mo video is you can capture a full minute of slow-motion footage, which equals around six minutes of video when played back.
Battery Life:
The OnePlus 6 comes with a 3,300mAh battery, which is the same size as found in the OnePlus 5 and 5T. It lasts a day and you don’t have to worry much about battery life.
The Dash charger is here to help you charge the battery. Dash charger charges 60% of battery in 30 minutes, which gives a decent amount for usage. While the OnePlus 6 has a glass body, it doesn’t come with a wireless charging feature. As with the screen resolution, the absence of wireless charging technology is likely to be in the interest of keeping costs down.
Power & Performance:
‘The Speed You Need’. This is the tagline for the OnePlus 6. It uses a Snapdragon 845 chipset which is a powerhouse of the performance. It keeps all work running smoothly. OnePlus 6 is faster than other smartphones in the market. There’s more than enough performance under the hood to keep you going with both 6GB or 8GB RAM variants.
You can use multiple apps at a time. Background apps don’t affect performance. You can play high-end games easily. It gives a smooth graphic performance and no lags!! Running Geekbench 4 on the OnePlus 6 gives an impressive average multi-core score of 9100. Considering the price, the results are excellent.
OnePlus 6 comes with Android 8.1 and it’s stock Android. Also, OnePlus 6 announced that the phone is compatible with Android Pie (Beta) and soon it will be available for OnePlus 6 users. There is no extra bloatware.
You can customize the phone as there is a range of additional customization options, allowing you to fine-tune the handset to your specific requirements. The gesture control features are helpful and make the overall experience better.
The speaker is downward. Sound quality is good for songs and YouTube videos. But if you love watching movies, you’ll want something better to listen to. As a single speaker, it doesn’t give a sound experience like LG G7 ThinQ.
OnePlus 6 has a 3.5mm headphone jack which is good and there’s also Bluetooth 5.0 support. The phone also comes with Qualcomm’s AptX audio enhancement technology. This technology gives you clearer, punchier audio over both wired and wireless connections.
Gaming mode features disable notifications while you play games and optimize performance. It is perfect for uninterrupted PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) and Fortnite sessions!
