Stadia: Google Revealed A Powerful Game Streaming Service

Google's Stadia is the Future of Gaming

Today at Games Developer Conference (GDC) 2019, Google announced its new Stadia game-streaming service. Stadia is Google’s new cloud game-streaming service. Google CEO Sundar Pichai admitted he’s not a big gamer, but he’s got big plans for gamers around the world.

Now you can play console-level games online into your Chrome browser. Stadia lets you access game streaming from devices like smartphones, laptops, tablets, and TVs that wouldn’t be able to handle the GPU load initially. You can access and play any game anywhere in 4K resolution and up to 60fps.

You can play any AAA Game title on your smartphone, Linux/Windows PC, or Television without worrying about its specs. Developers have been testing the streaming service in the private inside of Google for some years. They tested publicly with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in the back, at the end of 2018.

Google Stadia vice president Phil Harrison didn’t mention details of latency while playing games. But looks like latency will depend on geographic proximity to the data center. Google also confirmed that not all rural users in supported countries will be able to sign up for the Stadia service at launch because of the latency difference.

The Google data center network covers 19 regions, 58 zones, and more than 200 countries, bringing the 4K, 60-fps games to 2 billion people via any device using the Chrome browser. You can enjoy game streaming on desktops, laptops, mobiles, tablets, and televisions anytime.

The tech blades powering the Stadia experience in these data centers are formidable. While the PS4 runs at 4.2 GPU teraflops and the Xbox One X at 6.0 GPU teraflops, Stadia runs at 10.7 GPU teraflops. It also supports Unreal Engine 4 and Unity.
