Launched in 2017, Sony HT-ST5000 is a 1180mm wide soundbar alongside a wireless sub which gives excellent audio quality. It is Sony’s first soundbar to launch with Dolby Atmos support.

Sony HT-ST5000 is a 7.1.2 channel soundbar with features like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding, High-Res Audio support, built-in Chromecast, Bluetooth and dual-band Wi-Fi. The price of the soundbar is also expensive. It comes at a price of around $1,500, £1,500, AU$2,436.

Sony HT-ST5000 has great build quality. The width of the 46.5 x 3.2 x 5.7-inch soundbar makes it a good fit for 55-inch or larger TVs. There is a fabric grill with bar. On the left and right side –  there are high-frequency tweeters, coaxial speakers with gold-rimmed. There are four HDMI ports- three inputs, plus one ARC output. You just need to configure it in setting and have to select enhanced over standard settings. After configuring, you can enjoy 4K 60fps videos from sources like Amazon Fire 4K, UHD player, Xbox One X, etc. The soundbar offers AV receiver versatility.

Sony HT-ST5000 Remote

There is a USB port on the left side of the soundbar. So, you can enjoy local file playback via pen drive. Optical digital audio input and stereo minijack, a 3.5mm jack are also available on Sony HT-ST5000. An Ethernet LAN port enables wired networking, but there are also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the latter with NFC pairing and Sony’s proprietary LDAC headroom extension.

There are buttons for power, inputs, and volume slightly hidden on the back of the unit. The remote is a better choice for controlling the unit. It has a sound field, subwoofer volume and home for bringing up the on-screen menu buttons which are very useful.

Performance:

Sony Ht-ST5000 is easy to operate. The soundbar delivers epic 3D sounds experience. The HT-ST5000 is one of the best-performing soundbars you’ll find. It can give up to 800W output. The overall experience with Sony HT-ST5000 is superb. There are different sound mode options like Dolby Surround, Music Mode, Game Studio Mode which gives brilliant sound effects.

You can stream music to the soundbar via wi-fi, through the ethernet port or Bluetooth 4.1 connection. For those wanting to use their phone to help stream music, Spotify Connect is also built into the HT-ST5000, as is Google Chromecast for Tidal or Google Play Music users.
