British-built new Honda CR-V scored a perfect 5-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test. By getting a five-star rating, the Honda CR-V now joins the Civic, Jazz, and HR-V cars which are awarded the maximum five-star score in the crash tests.

Honda CR-V contains Honda’s next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure which utilizes an ‘All Directions Collision Safety’ concept.

Honda CR-V’s Euro NCAP crash test report shows that the car’s passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal offset set. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the femurs (thighbones) and knees of the driver and passenger.

Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection against whiplash injury in the event of a rear-end collision. About the full-width rigid barrier test, the protection of the driver and rear passenger was good for all critical body areas.

In more severe pole impacts, dummy readings of rib deflection indicated marginal protection of the chest. In the side barrier test, protection of all critical body areas was good and the Honda CR-V scored maximum points in it.

A geometric assessment of the rear seats indicated poor whiplash protection. The standard-fit autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system performed well in tests at the low speeds, typical of city driving, at which many whiplash injuries are caused.
